James Robert "Rob" Barber Obituary


James Robert "Rob" Barber passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at his residence after a brief illness with COPD. Rob was employed with Seawonewa in LaGrange, Georgia. 

Rob attended Lanett City Schools.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence A. Barber. 

Rob is survived by his children, Carli Hughes, Auburn, Alabama, Tent Barber, Lanett, Cody Barber, Wetumpka. He is survived by his six grandchildren, Miley Simmons, Mason Simmons, Tanner Simmons, Maverick Barber, Leland Barber, and Brenton Barber. His mother Marian Barber Lance, Lanett. A brother and a sister-in-law, Jeff Barber and his wife, Lydia of Daphne, Alabama. A sister and a brother-in-law, Amy Bailey and Russ Bailey, Lanett. 

Rob is also survived by his fiancé, Debby Chandler, Valley. Rob and Debby spent many happy years together. 

Rob loved to hunt and fish and spend time in the woods. He had many mounted deer heads and fish plaques on display in his home that he loved telling his friends about. 

A Memorial Gathering of friends will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley. The fellowship and gathering of friends and family will be from 4:00 P.M. EST until 6:00 P.M. EST. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the New Hope Rescue, Inc. for the well-being and health of animals, in Rob's memory.

Mrs. Radean Walls Poole, 59 of Daviston, AL passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at her residence. Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 2:00PM CST until 6:00 PM CST at Silmon-Seroyer Funeral Home Chapel, Lafayette, AL. Mrs. Poole will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, 1:00 PM CST at Leander Baptist Church, Daviston, AL. Pastor James Whetstone, Officiating. Interment will follow funeral service in church cemetery. Born on July 27, 1939, in Langdale, Alabama, Kathy was full of love and joy throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. She departed from this world in Opelika, Alabama. Kathy's life was one of devotion and laughter, marked by her enduring love for her husband of 48 years, James Widner. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and shared dreams.
