Robert "Buck" Charles Scott Obituary




Robert Charles Scott, known to those closest to him as "Buck, passed away peacefully at his home in Five Points, Alabama, on December 15, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 10, 1938, in Opelika, Alabama, and throughout his 85 years, he cultivated a life rich in family, work, and passion. A devoted family man, Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.

He is survived by his appreciative sons, Michael "Bud" Scott (Jessica) and Greg Scott (Leta); his cherished daughters, Amanda Rutland (Jason) and Brandy Byess (Joey); and his caring sister, Sandra Kirk (Roy). His spirit will live on in the laughter and memories shared with his grandchildren, Sydney, Scarlett, and Sterling Scott; Easton Byess; Kaleigh Raines (Matt); and Kole Rutland, whom he adored and remained heavily involved with throughout his life. Also, he was proceeded in death by beloved son, Michael C. Scott whom he loved and cherished.

Robert was a well-respected union pipe fitter in the construction industry, where he dedicated many years of hard work and craftsmanship. His career led him to form numerous lasting connections and friendships. He was known for his reliable work ethic, his ability to lead with compassion, and for setting a stellar example for his colleagues and apprentices alike.

An ardent supporter of Alabama Football, Robert's enthusiasm for the sport was unmistakable. Every game day found him surrounded by friends and family, cheering on his beloved team with vigor and unwavering loyalty. His love for the game was only surpassed by his love for his grandchildren, with whom he spent countless hours, sharing his interests and guiding them with gentle wisdom.

Those who knew Robert would describe him as loving, kind, and selfless. His presence offered comfort and his actions spoke of a man who always put others before himself. Whether it was through his hands-on help or his comforting words, Robert made a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. Though he has departed from this world, the essence of who he was will continue to be felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His lessons of kindness, determination, and selflessness are deeply ingrained in the hearts of his family and friends. Robert Charles Scott's life will be celebrated by those left to cherish his memory. His humility, integrity, and the deep love he had for his family will never be forgotten.

As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we find comfort in the thought that his kind and gentle soul has found peace. His story may have ended, but his influence will be evident for generations to come.

A memorial service was held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley.
