Russell Jerome Janney Obituary



Russell Jerome Janney of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the age of 64. Russell’s life was a testimony of love for others and an unwavering commitment to faith and family.

He was a devoted husband to his wife and best friend, Joy, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving father to his children, Amber (Josh) Hasty and Adam (Harmony) Janney. Being “Papa” was a role he cherished deeply, as he brought much joy, love, laughter, and fun to his grandchildren: Maddux Hasty, Aneliese Janney, and Lilliebelle Hasty. Russell was the pride of his parents, S.T. and Runell Janney, and an adored older brother to his sister, Jennifer (Gary) Thompson.

Russell was a dedicated and accomplished employee of the Federal Aviation Administration from 1987 until his retirement as a Senior Advisor to the Deputy Director on Operations on October 31, 2021.

Russell lived a life of ministry. He was currently serving as the pastor of Todd Christian Church in Valley, Alabama, leading his congregation in service and deeper relationship with the Lord.

Funeral services for Russell will be held on Saturday, January 13th, 2023, at 2:30 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens. Pastor Scott Whaley will officiate. Russell’s family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.

Flowers will be accepted or donations in memory of Russell can be sent to Cheryl Myers at the Christian Service Center, PO Box 227, Lanett, AL, 36863.

Mrs. Radean Walls Poole, 59 of Daviston, AL passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at her residence. Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 2:00PM CST until 6:00 PM CST at Silmon-Seroyer Funeral Home Chapel, Lafayette, AL.
