Wanda Lee Pitts Cauley Obituary




We are here to celebrate the life of Wanda Lee Pitts Cauley, lovingly known as Wanda, who passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024, in LaFayette, Alabama. Born on January 23, 1941, in West Point, Georgia, Wanda was a beloved figure in her community and a beacon of warmth to all who knew her.

Wanda's life was a rich tapestry woven with love and devotion to her extensive family and faith. The matriarch of a tight-knit clan, she is survived by her adored children, Ronnie Wayne Cauley (Alisa), Wayne Lamar Cauley (Lena), Ann Cauley Gleaton (Alan), and Whindolyn Pitts, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Cynthia Bridges (David), Catherine Cauley, Robert Cauley (Elizabeth), Jeremy Cauley (Teiera), Richard Alexander (Alisa), Christopher E. Cauley, Daniel Wayne Cauley, Jonathan Robbins (Amanda), Makayla Garrett (Allen), Nathan Robbins, Nikki Clifton (Todd), Christina Cauley, Mary Ann Cauley, Chris Cauley (Courtney), Wanda Cauley, Heather Cauley and Alana Gleaton. Her light continues to flicker brightly in the lives of her numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Wanda's brother, Ralph N. Pitts (Cathy), and sister, Charolette Pitts Brown, fondly remember her joyful presence.

 Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved son, Bob Lamar Cauley, and an array of siblings who welcomed her on the other side: Leanard S. Pitts, James "Jimmy" Pitts, Marthaleen Pitts Hughey, Marilyn Pitts Steele, Ted Pitts, Henry G. Pitts, Janice Pitts Hodges, Little Sister Pitts, Brenda Pitts, Nellie Ruth Pitts Elmore, Jerome Pitts, and Beverly Ann Pitts. She was the loving daughter of the late Nathaniel Lee Pitts and Margaret McKay Pitts.

Wanda treasured attending church services and held Jesus close to her heart throughout her life. Friends and loved ones will fondly remember her for her mastery of dominoes and bingo and her joy in the simple pleasure of writing.

Those who knew Wanda will tell you she was the epitome of loving kindness, a friend to all, and unwaveringly faith filled. Her legacy is one of heartfelt connections and a life marked by an unwavering commitment to her family and her faith. As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, we honor the profound impact Wanda Lee Pitts Cauley had on so many. Her memory will undoubtedly serve as a guiding light for generations to come.

 Funeral services for Wanda will be held on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024, at 2:30 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Harmony Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor David Kelly will officiate. Wanda’s family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
