Billy Ray Pollard, Sr., affectionately known as Billy to all who knew him, entered into eternal rest on August 25, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on May 28, 1941, in Wedowee, Alabama, Billy's life journey came to a peaceful close surrounded by his loving family at his home in Lanett, Alabama. A cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Billy's love and legacy ripple through the generations.

Billy shared 63 beautiful years with his devoted wife, Celia Pollard, demonstrating an unwavering partnership that stood as an inspiring testament to true love. Together, they raised a family that includes their children, Diane Byess (Paul), Terry Pollard (Kim), and James Pollard, who each carry forward Billy's strength and kindness. The joy of his life continued to expand with his adored grandchildren Randi Foster (William), Teri Pollard Rialland (Matt), Jamey Pollard (Meagan), Joey Byess (Brandy), Chelsea Santoyo (Jessie), and Jeremy Pollard, and his great-grandchildren Katelin Foster, Adron Foster, Wrangler Pollard, Kolton Hull, Truit Santoyo, Remington Santoyo, Roper Pollard, and Easton Byess, who will all remember their great-grandfather for his gentle nature and wise spirit.

Billy was preceded in departure from this world by his loving son, Billy Ray Pollard, Jr., his mother, Alice Benefield, and his father, James Burt Pollard. His memories will remain etched in the hearts of his family and all those fortunate enough to have known him. Billy Ray Pollard, Sr.'s remarkable legacy will be cherished and celebrated for generations to come.

Billy was a man of incredible integrity, known for his honesty, humility, and strong will. Colleagues and peers respected him for these traits throughout his career and when just gathering with him for fellowship. He found joy and purpose in his work, ensuring that his actions spoke as loudly as his words. He was of the Baptist faith. His faith in the Lord was unshakeable, and he lived his life as an example of Christian kindness and wisdom. Billy's passions included cruising on motorcycles with his friends and unwinding with classic cowboy movies, a reflection of his adventurous spirit.

Funeral services for Billy will be held on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, at 11:00 AM (EDT) at the graveside in Hillcrest Cemetery. Brother Ron Williams will officiate. No visitation is planned.
