Mr. Willie Ray Obituary



Mr. Willie C. Ray, 73 of LaFayette, AL passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024.

Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 14,2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. CST at Silmon-Seroyer Funeral Home Chapel in LaFayette.

Mr. Ray will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, 2:00 p.m. EST at Emanuel Chapel C.M.E. Methodist Church in West Point, GA.

Elder Dr. Curtis West, Eulogist, Rev. Gary L. Dixon, Officiating.

Burial will follow in the “Old” New Mt. Sellers Baptist Church Cemetery in LaFayette.

Mr. Ray leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Rev. Bettye Ann Ray of LaFayette, AL, five sons, Walter (Lisa) Brooks of LaFayette, AL, Stanley Brooks of LaFayette, AL, Anthony Brooks of Peachtree, GA, Wayne (Sharon) Williams of LaFayette, AL, and Josiah Beasley of Opelika, AL, his father, Willie Jr. Heard of Roanoke, AL, twenty four grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, his siblings, John Otis Ray of Panama City, FL, George Medows of Five Points, AL, Roger Heard of Washington, Tracy and Wendy Jennings, and Janice Todd, all of LaFayette, AL, Jacqulaline Heard Hogansville, GA, LaQuita Heard of LaGrange, GA, and Kathy Pleasure of Columbus, GA, sisters-in-law: Catherine Huguley, Christine (Rev. Jimmy) Thomas, Earlene Ferrell, Shirley Ann Sims, and Dorothy Ray, brother-in-law, Alton Hutchinson, special friend, Jr. McCurdy, and like a son, Jerontavious (Quana) Flournoy of Opelika, AL, a special niece, Deborah (Marlon) Tillman of Orlando, FL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
