Ms. Mary Liza Appleby Obituary




Ms. Mary Liza Appleby, 80 of Roanoke, AL passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at her home.

Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. CST at Silmon-Seroyer Funeral Home Chapel in LaFayette.

Ms. Appleby will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, 1:00 p.m. CST at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Roanoke (Welch Community), AL, Pastor Calvin Trammell, Officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Ms. Appleby leaves to cherish her memories to her children, three daughters: Kimberly Goss, Priscilla (Michael) Woods, and Samantha (Rodrell) Burks, all of Roanoke, AL, two sons: Robert Appleby and Gregory Goss, both of Roanoke, AL, seven grandchildren: Barry Goss, April Goss, Kevin Appleby, Kerry Pogue, all of Roanoke, AL, Denise (Sidney) Martin, of Newnan, GA, Cassandra Phillips of Opelika, AL, and Demecia Allen of  Cordell, GA, thirty-one great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren , four godchildren: Lisa Cooley Baker of Newell, AL; Karen Lilly of Montgomery, AL; Gloria (EC) Spence of Atlanta, GA, and Jackie Johnson of Roanoke, AL; two sisters, and  several relatives and friends, special friends, Lillian Whatley, Gwendolyn Childs, Faye White, Carrie & Curtis Copeland, Carrie Hightower, Harold Dupree, Roy (Rocking Roy) Williams, Shadonica Walker, Pastor Calvin and Patricia Trammell, Reverend Sander and Shelia Higgins, and The Canaan Missionary Baptist Church Family.

Mrs. Radean Walls Poole, 59 of Daviston, AL passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at her residence. Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 2:00PM CST until 6:00 PM CST at Silmon-Seroyer Funeral Home Chapel, Lafayette, AL. Mrs. Poole will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, 1:00 PM CST at Leander Baptist Church, Daviston, AL. Pastor James Whetstone, Officiating. Interment will follow funeral service in church cemetery. Born on July 27, 1939, in Langdale, Alabama, Kathy was full of love and joy throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. She departed from this world in Opelika, Alabama. Kathy's life was one of devotion and laughter, marked by her enduring love for her husband of 48 years, James Widner. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and shared dreams.
