Kirk Daniel Cole Obituary





Kirk Daniel Cole of Lafayette AL, originally from Kingsport TN, passed away on May 29, 2024. He is survived by wife of 20 years, Evelyn Cook Cole from Lanett Alabama and their children Garrett and Annabelle of Lafayette AL, daughter Kristyn Scholl (Tanner Scholl) and grandson Myles and son Connor Cole both from Shelbyville KY, stepson Russell Rutland and stepdaughter Reagan Rutland (Nate Bell) and grandson Grayson Bell from Five Points AL, father Daniel and stepmother Bonnie Cole of Kingsport TN, brother Erik Hitzelberger (Brandi) nephew and niece Alex and Abby Hitzelberger of Louisville KY, sister Amye Cole (Aaron) and nephew Oliver of Knoxville TN, sister Beth Cole (Charlie) niece Cheyanne Cole and great nephew and niece Philip and Skylar Cole of Kingsport TN, mother in law Margaret Cook of Lanett AL, sister in law Jane Ellen Cook (Steve Booker) niece Caitlin Cook great nephew and niece Markell and Rhylee, and niece Caylee Cook of Lanett AL, sister in law Jan Cook Baltes nephew and niece Abby and Adam Baltes of Lanett AL, sister in law Beth Cook, niece Sarah Parmer great niece Nyomi, nieces Kimberly, Nashville and DJ Bellflower from Lanett AL, uncle Thomas Cole (Susan), Nicholas Bowen (Marnie) and David (Helen) Dibell.

Kirk was preceded in death by his mother Diane Lee Dibell Cole, maternal grandparents Howard and Edith Dibell, paternal grandparents Philip and Elma Cole and a host of aunts, uncles and other family too numerous to name.

 After Kirk graduated Sullivan South High School in 1991 he first attended college at Sheldon Jackson in Sitka Alaska. He then attended Eastern Kentucky University where he studied Arson Investigation and was a volunteer firefighter in both Sitka Alaska and while attending Eastern Kentucky.

 Kirk served in the United States Army from 1995 to 2002 and had many assignments including leading and being a member of a mechanized and dismounted infantry unit, served during Intrinsic Action 97-3 in Kuwait with the 1/12th Infantry, was a Staff Sergeant – Squad Leader/Bradley Commander and assigned as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle Instructor to the NETT Team.

 He went to the Alabama Police Academy in 2002 and worked at Valley Police Department until 2008 where he became a Patrol Sergeant/Shift Supervisor before transferring to CID. At this time he completed his college education online and earned his Bachelors degree in Business Management.

From 2008-2018 he was a State of Alabama Law Enforcement Officer assigned to the Department of Probation and Parole here in Chambers County.

 After taking early retirement in 2018 he spent time with his family and spent some time working at a local car manufacturing plant.

He enjoyed watching movies, NASCAR, fantasy sports, playing Xbox with his buddies online, he loved football and was a lifelong fan of the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Vols.

 A memorial service for Kirk will be held on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024 at 3:00 PM (EDT) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Kirk’s family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 PM (EDT) until the service hour at the funeral home.
