Obituary For Clifton Emory Reese Jr.

  Clifton Emory Reese, Jr of Shawmut, AL, affectionately known by all who knew and loved him as "Pedro", went home to heaven on Sunday, May 26th at 11:37am. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. He was 84 years old. Pedro was born to Clifton and Lucille Reese in Lagrange, GA on April 20th 1940. He attended Valley High School before becoming a certified Heating & Air specialist through Southern Union State Community College. Pedro was a veteran of the US National Guard and the US Navy. He married Josephine Edwards on August 4th, 1973 and had just celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary to her. Pedro spent the majority of his working career as an electrician for the West Point Pepperell/West Point Home corporation, before retiring to take on his two favorite jobs in life: prison ministry, and being "Paw-paw". Raymond Lamar “Ray” Murphy Sr. passed away on May 26, 2024, at his home in Beulah, Alabama. He was 86 years old. He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Helen “Darlin” Murphy, his parents, Raymond and Annie Lee Murphy, brother, Jim Murphy, sister, Betty McConnell, daughter, Debra Martin, Son-in-law, Eddie Martin and great grandson, Edan Templeton. He is survived by his children, Lamar (Cindy) Murphy, Gale Moody, Travis (Teresa) Murphy, Diane Martin, Linda (Billy) Evert, John (Misty) Martin, 31 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren. Ray was a native of Beulah, Alabama since his birth on November 22, 1937. He worked most of his life in the logging business and ran the sawmill in Beulah for 20 yrs. He had many friends in the community. He retired at the age of 85. He loved western movies, working and tinkering on tractors or anything with a motor. He met his wife in 1978 and they married on Valentine’s Day in 1979. He and Darlin loved to travel.

Dave Solomon Marie, Sr. was born in Golden Meadow, Louisiana to the late Daniel Peter Marie, Sr., and Thelma Louise Smith on December 9, 1959. He passed away at his home in Valley, Alabama on May 11, 2024. He was 64 years old. Dave’s family was from Louisiana, but he lived and worked with his own family in Alabama for many years. Jeffrey Martin “Marty” Hall, born on October 3, 1967 passed away peacefully at his home on May 11, 2024. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gladys and Herman King and Flora and Ralph Hall. He is survived by his mother Diane Shelnutt, his father Billy Gene Hall, fiancé Patty Putman, his brother Eric Hall (Deanne), his daughter Abby Smith, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survivors also include three step-sons. Marty traveled throughout the southeast for the past twenty-five years as a living historian reenacting the Civil War and War of 1812. Gina Sue Bailey Knight, aged 67, of Lanett, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024. Born on February 16, 1957, in Lafayette, Alabama, Gina lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication to her family and friends. Gina was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Harold Knight. She was the cherished mother of Daniel Rackow and the adored grandmother of Alexander Rackow and Madeline Evarly Rosa Rackow. Gina is also survived by her dear sisters, Martha “Gibby” Brown and Lynn Bailey Fuller. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lucius and Martha “Margie” Bailey, and her brothers, Larry and Barry Bailey. Known for her selflessness and caring nature, Gina was a wonderful woman who spent her life ensuring the happiness of others. Her family was the center of her world, and she was especially proud of her role as a grandmother. Her grandchildren brought immense joy to her life, and she was truly the best grandmother they could have asked for. Gina's hobbies incl
